These results are list-membership facts as of the dated copy of each list identified on the result. Absence from these lists is not evidence of safety or of regulatory non-applicability. Safety Data Sheets and the primary source lists remain authoritative.

How it works

This tool is the batch counterpart of the Material Risk Snapshot: paste up to 25 substances and every one is screened against dated copies of the same four public regulatory lists — the California Proposition 65 list (OEHHA), the REACH SVHC Candidate List (ECHA), EPA's TSCA §8(a)(7) PFAS reference list (CompTox PFAS8a7v3), and Canada's CEPA Schedule 1 (ECCC) — using the Snapshot's matching engine unchanged.

Nothing is screened until you confirm. What you paste is first broken into chips, one per substance, each showing how it was recognized. You review that reading — edit any chip, merge two that should be one, delete what you did not mean — and only then does screening run. This matters because chemical names contain the same punctuation used to separate them.

Lines and tabs always separate substances, so a column pasted from a spreadsheet works directly, and numbered or bulleted lists are accepted. Commas are treated carefully: a list of CAS numbers splits cleanly, but where a name is involved the tool splits only at a comma followed by a space and flags every resulting chip for you to check — because most comma-bearing chemical names, such as 1-Amino-2,4-dibromoanthraquinone, carry no space after the comma and must never be broken apart.

Matching is exact, never fuzzy. A CAS matches only an identical CAS token — list rows carrying several CAS numbers match on any of theirs. A name resolves only on an exact, case-insensitive match against a known list entry; anything else stays in the table as an unresolved row rather than being guessed or dropped.

The per-list caveats carry over unchanged. Prop 65 chemicals that OEHHA has delisted are reported as formerly listed — never as listed. EPA's §8(a)(7) list is an explicitly non-exhaustive reference subset of a structural PFAS definition, so absence from it never means "not a PFAS" or "not reportable." CEPA Schedule 1 identifies substances by name only, so a CEPA name hit is a name-level match that requires review. A CAS is screened against ECCC's published CAS mapping, which is explicitly non-exhaustive — a hit is reported as an association, and a miss never means "not on Schedule 1," since ECCC lists no CAS even for Benzene or Lead.

Each expanded row states exactly which dated copy of the underlying list was used and links to the official source. Lists change — the primary source is always authoritative.

Worked example

Pasting three lines — 335-67-1, Allyl chloride, and Coal tars and their distillates — produces three chips. The CAS chip previews as Pentadecafluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) · 335-67-1 so you can confirm the number before screening. Confirm, and it reports listed on Prop 65, the SVHC Candidate List and the PFAS reference list, and "no CAS association" for CEPA Schedule 1 — ECCC's mapping carries no CAS for it, which is not the same as absence.

Allyl chloride reports formerly listed on Prop 65 — OEHHA delisted it on October 29, 1999 — never "listed." It counts toward the summary strip's screened total but not its flagged total.

Now paste the single line Alcoholic beverages, when associated with alcohol abuse . It splits into two amber chips, because a comma followed by a space usually separates two substances — and Alcoholic beverages really is a separate Prop 65 listing, so screening the split silently would have answered a different question. Press Merge and the original entry is restored as one chip, which resolves to the 1988 listing. That repair step is the whole point of the review.
